Mission statement
Aging population in Japan is increasing with unprecedented speed. This is also affecting longevity of public infrastructure and buildings due to drastic change of our way of life, growth of ICT technologies, lack of funding for maintenance and the smaller population residing in the rural areas.
R-challenge was established to form solution networks in the following areas;
1. Searching alternatives to prevent deterioration of the building value caused by physical and social causes.
2. Research for materials and technologies for renovation, building longevity focusing on ICT and optimization of energy use.
3. Making recommendations on selected materials and technologies contributing future urban and social structure design to corporations and public sectors.
